Director Anil Sharma makes sure Sunny Deol does what he has perfected in a dozen films in the 80s and 90s and even in their biggest hit Gadar: Ek Prem Katha. Truly, Singh Saab aka Saranjit aka Sunny Deol is great because this time he has been roaring "badla nahin badlaav" but all that is forgotten mid-way and the film falls into the trap of a regular revenge drama. In return Bhoodev's character shows repentance with folded hands in front of Saranjit.
Miraculously villain ki beti is still alive after the Sadhu and bhichoo story is over to undergo the emergency surgery. Doctor has a change of heart and immediately rushes her to the operation theatre. After which he tells the doctor you should not punish the kids for the crimes of the elders. But Saranjit is Singh Saab the great so he must land up at the hospital to narrate a story about some saadhu and bhichoo. Why? Because he had kidnapped his son earlier so that he would not reach on time to perform a surgery on Saranjit Talwar's (Sunny Deol) late wife (Urvashi Rautela) when she was struggling for her life after she was poisoned. One Dr Anand refuses to perform a surgery on her. She is rushed to a hospital and lying on a stretcher. Towards the climax the main antagonist Bhoodev's (Prakash Raj) daughter has just got hit by a bullet. As of the last decades of the 20th century, its presence on the world stage has consolidated and today Rusalka is one of the twenty most performed operas surprisingly it has never been performed since the re-inauguration of the Teatro Real.Imagine this. Rusalka triumphed quickly in German speaking countries but international acceptance took time, in spite of the famous “Song to the Moon”. Notwithstanding, the composer did not renounce his Bohemian roots for he left a mark on a large part of his creations as an artist committed to Czech music and culture. There are also considerable similarities with another wonderful aquatic fable of sacrifice and redemption: Sadko (1898) by Rimski-Kórsakov.
The original story is perfectly translated into a musical score full of colour and magic where it is possible to perceive a Wagnerian influence, especially in the river currents of Der Ring des Nibelungen. The libretto of the most well known opera by Dvořak, which premiered in Prague in 1901, is inspired by the Czech version of the Central European folktale, one we also know as Undine (1811) by Friedrich de la Motte Fouqué or The Little Mermaid (1837) by Hans Christian Andersen.
